Yahoo! offers Mobile Search on T-Mobile’s Web2go Service
T-Mobile USA, and Yahoo! have announced that beginning today (Nov. 20),
Yahoo! oneSearch will be available for mobile Internet searches made
through T-Mobile's new web2go service. It allows Web browsing on mobile
phones through a customizable home page.
Yahoo!
oneSearch provides customers who search through T-Mobile's web2go with
access to news, financial information, weather conditions, Flickr
photos, and Web images. They can also search the Web and mobile web
sites. It’ll will also display relevant ringtones, wallpapers, games,
and other content available in the T-Mobile Store within search results.
Yahoo!
oneSearch is designed for the needs of the mobile user, intuitively
returning results grouped around the user's query intent. For instance,
when users search for a sports team, Yahoo! returns the latest scores,
schedules, team profiles, roster, news, images and a link to the team's
Web site.
Alternatively, if a user searches for a movie, Yahoo! returns show times
at local theaters, reviews, news articles, and information on the cast.
Consumers no longer need to surf through a sea of links to find the
information they want while on-the-go, informs Yahoo!.
The
search will cover other topics also including airline flight details,
integrated information from Wikipedia, Yahoo! Answers, and more.
"Web2go
includes personalized internet access, and with an integrated mobile
search powered by Yahoo! oneSearch, it delivers a more intuitive mobile
experience that places the most relevant information at the fingertips
of T-Mobile customers," said Cole Brodman, chief development officer,
T-Mobile USA.
Also
beginning today, Yahoo! will deliver mobile sponsored search results and
in some cases display advertising within the search results presented
through T-Mobile's web2go.
With a
focus on creating the monetization engine for the mobile Internet,
Yahoo! is enabling advertisers to reach their target audiences at large
scale and with impact, says Yahoo!.
"Yahoo!
oneSearch revolutionized the mobile search experience, by delivering
relevant answers to queries that mobile users have while on-the-go. More
than 70 leading mobile operators around the world selected Yahoo! to
power the mobile search experiences, providing us with an enormous
opportunity to connect mobile consumers," said David Ko, senior vice
president, Connected Life, Yahoo!.
This
announcement, says Yahoo!, follows the strategic partnership announced
earlier this year to provide mobile search and advertising for T-Mobile
International across ten European countries.
