Microsoft Invites You to Travel with Bing

As part of Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing Travel promises to help consumers search flights and hotels, airfare price predictions, travel news and community, travel deals, and more. It’s announced today (June 4).

Bing Travel, says Microsoft, combines many of the airfare and hotel tools from Microsoft's 2008 acquisition of Farecast with news and editorial content from MSN Travel. Bing Travel is available for travelers at http://www.bing.com/travel.

Announced about a week ago, Microsoft decided to deploy its Bing search engine worldwide by June 3. And instead of calling it a search engine, it says it’s a “Decision Engine” to help people make better decisions. (Read: Will Bing Help You Search the Web?)

According to a recent survey by Bing Travel, Microsoft says, 52% of potential travelers search three or more sites before booking their airfare. And 42% of travelers spend between one and four weeks weighing their travel options, while 17% spend more than one month.

Bing Travel, it says, aims to reduce the amount of time consumers spend searching for travel information by presenting comprehensive results in one place, and to help consumers make more informed decisions with tools such as Price Predictor and Rate Indicator.
