Twitter, Skype Chat on iPhone with IM+
SHAPE
Services, maker of IM+, a multi-service mobile instant messenger for
mobile platforms, has released an update 3.0 for its iPhone version
today (June 8). It says IM+ 3.0 will combine leading messaging systems
and social networks.
These
include Facebook Chat, Yahoo, AIM / MobileMe, MSN / Windows Live, ICQ,
Jabber, Google Talk, MySpaceIM and now Skype Chat and
Twitter.
The company says IM+ is the only mobile messenger to support the
broadest range of popular services on all smartphones.
Earlier, SHAPE Services announced to support Facebook
chat and avatars in its IM+ messenger for
BlackBerry smartphones.
Facebook users can exchange text instant messages with smileys, send
files, log in into multiple accounts simultaneously and preview avatar
images of their buddies in contact list. (Read:

Following the official Apple iPhone 3.0 SDK release (expected today),
SHAPE will issue an update utilizing OS 3.0 features such as push
notifications.
In March, Apple had previewed its iPhone OS 3.0 software and announced
the availability of a beta software release to registered developers. It
provides new Software Development Kit (SDK), over 1,000 Application
Programming Interfaces (APIs), and 100 new features. (Read:

"IM+
with push notifications is ready! Users will be prompted to update
shortly after iPhone OS 3.0 release. This update will be free," says
Igor Berezovsky, SHAPE's CEO.
IM+ 3.0
Lite, a free ad-based version of IM+, has also expanded its
functionality, says the company. Besides Twitter, some features
previously available in paid version only were added: Stay Online, IM
Push, Send photo, Send location and Send voice.
Currently, IM+ 3.0 Lite is in testing in App Store.
