Friendster Social Network Connects You with Tagalog
As
most social networks are trying to use various gimmicks to attract users
and earn sufficient money from the advertisers, Friendster, a leading
social network in Asia, is coming in Tagalog, a language in the
Philippines. Now it supports 11 languages along with a slew of other
offers including the mobile site.
But can
more number of users bring
more ad revenues for social networks?
Doubtful. Research firm IDC says that ads on social networking services
have lower click-through rates than
traditional online ads and they also
lead to fewer purchases.

Internet users. At the same time, marketers want to leverage the consumer
base to sell their products.
For
example, Pizza Hut has introduced several ways to order its pizza
through a new application, named "Pizza
Hut Interface," which integrates with Facebook's main
commerce system.
Rosetta, an interactive marketing agency in the U.S., has done a
social media study. It reveals 59% of
100 leading retailers currently have a fan page on Facebook. According
to the study, which was updated in Sept. 2008, 29 of the retailers
surveyed added Facebook pages during four months before Sept. These
include Best Buy, Toys "R" Us, Kohl's, and Wal-Mart.
Though
these are not traditional advertising methods, marketers as well as
social networking service providers are using them to earn revenues. For
them, the simple rule of thumb is more users will bring more earnings.
And Friendster is one of them. It's now using a new language platform to
attract the consumers.
According to the company, this new language addition on Friendster will
give the 14 million Internet users in the Philippines and users around
the world a greater choice of languages with which to navigate the site,
share content and use Friendster's social networking features. ...Continued
