Yahoo! Goes Mobile on iPhone, More Countries
Yahoo!
says today (June 16) that the new Yahoo! Mobile service is now available
in nine additional countries and 100 more devices worldwide. It also
comes on iPhone device.
Providing an open and personalized starting point to the Internet on
both the mobile Web and as an Apple iPhone app, Yahoo! Mobile enables
consumers to discover, stay connected, and stay informed through their
mobile devices, says the company.
According to a study, the number of people using their mobile devices to
access news and information on the Internet more than doubled from
January 2008 to January 2009. Among the audience of 63.2 million people,
22.4 million (35%) did so daily; more than double the size of the

Another
survey of mobile
users conducted during the current economic slump indicates consumers
intend to increase the use of mobile data services over the next two
years. The research, conducted in five Western European countries and
the United States by The Nielsen Company for Tellabs, analysed different

Recently, Etisalat, a
telecom service provider in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Nokia
announced their collaboration to provide access to mobile Internet based
services in the Middle East. The services include maps, navigation, and
games on Nokia devices, based on the
Ovi services platform provided by

Yahoo!
Mobile is now available in 17 countries across Europe, Asia, and the
Americas, including today’s expansion into Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan,
Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, and Italy.
Yahoo!
Mobile for the Web is now available across more than 400 devices with
HTML-enabled mobile browsers by visiting http://new.m.yahoo.com, while
the Yahoo! Mobile iPhone app is available in the Apple iPhone App Store.
So
users can discover via results from Yahoo!'s mobile search and
editor-selected content. They can stay connected through access to email
and social network accounts, etc. and get information from different
sources.
Yahoo!
Mobile for Web and the Yahoo! Mobile iPhone app first debuted across
eight countries including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France,
India, Indonesia, and the Philippines in April this year.
