ZTE
Calling U.S. Consumers with its C78 Handset
ZTE
USA, Inc., a subsidiary of China’s ZTE Corporation – a leading global
telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider – has
announced the general availability of the ZTE C78 handset. It’s offered
by MetroPCS, a provider of unlimited, flat-rate wireless communications
service, to U.S. subscribers.
This
marks the third handset ZTE has launched with MetroPCS in 2008, says ZTE.
It features a sleek design with a 2-inch backlit color display in a
brightly colored, purple casing.
A
stylish and affordable option, the ZTE C78 includes over 60 MB of user
memory for downloading games, ringtones and applications, as well as a
VGA camera with zoom, picture messaging capabilities and Bluetooth.
“ZTE is
committed to bringing to market high quality phones that offer a rich
user experience at an attractive price point,” said Dr. George Sun, CEO
of ZTE USA. “Today, we have demonstrated this commitment with our third
handset for the U.S. market, the ZTE C78. We have once again teamed up
with MetroPCS to broaden our offerings for the U.S. market and provide
customers with handsets that pack all the features they want into a
single device.”
As with
all its products, the company says, ZTE both designs and manufactures
its handsets in-house. ZTE USA offers a full portfolio of end-to-end
wireless handset and networking solutions in the U.S.
ZTE’s
growth in the handset market has resulted in its sales of 100 million
handsets worldwide as of September 2008, says ZTE.
As a leading Chinese telecoms equipment provider to
pursue business in overseas markets, ZTE now has
about 50,000 employees and 8,000 of them are
working in about 100 offices around the world.
