Tiny
Pictures Brings Radar for iPhone
Tiny
Pictures has released Radar for iPhone. Radar is a service for real-time
sharing of cameraphone pictures, videos, and conversations between
friends. Available for free at the iPhone App Store, the Radar
application will allow users to leverage browsing features of iPhone and
iPod touch.
The
company explains that Radar helps users share what they're doing while
they're doing it. iPhone pictures sent to Radar are immediately
available to friends on any mobile phone on any network; through the
desktop site; and through social networking sites like Facebook and
Twitter.
This
ongoing stream of pictures and experiences shared in real time becomes
an instant visual update.
Today,
many companies are creating
specialized applications to make iPhone
a real smart device. The applications target common consumers as well as
business executives.
For example, Modality, a mobile learning solutions company for iPhone
and iPod touch, is offering its
Brain Quest Blast Off
game from the Apple App Store. The new app is developed in
partnership with trade books publisher Workman Publishing Company.
Quickoffice, a mobile
office productivity software provider, has released MobileFiles Pro, which it says is the first
application to include editable Office functionality for the iPhone and
iPod touch.
And
recently, Truveo,
a video search engine, has introduced a second
generation version of its
video search application for the iPhone, with
new features and additional videos. Through the Truveo Mobile Video
Search for iPhone app, it says, users can access over 145 million
videos.
"The
iPhone is an ideal platform for Radar, and allows us to follow through
on the essential promise of the cameraphone to enable real-time sharing
of experiences," said John Poisson, founder and CEO of Tiny Pictures.
"We've put everything we've learned about mobile browsing and commenting
into this application, and our goal was to build nothing less than the
best mobile photo sharing service for iPhone."
For
consumers who don't own an iPhone or iPod touch, Radar applications are
also available for Java, Windows Mobile, Sidekick, and Blackberry, and
the Radar mobile site works on any web-enabled phone on any network in
the world, says Tiny Pictures.
