Phone with Your Own Screen

The Nokia N97 is Nokia's first device to feature a personalizable home screen, which can be customized with widgets to bring live information to the device. These widgets include social networking sites like Facebook and Hi5, news services like the Associated Press, Bloomberg, and Reuters, as well as shopping and weather information.

Among the other recently introduced mobile devices are Nokia 2730 classic, Nokia 2720 fold, and Nokia 7020.

SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company, has added the new Motorola Stature i9 phone to its product portfolio. At 15 millimeters (0.60 inches) thick, it’s claimed to be the slimmest Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) flip phone.

Motorola has announced MOTO W7 Active Edition. It's a motion-enabled 3G mobile device. The phone is equipped with an accelerometer that senses your body's motions, orientation, and hand gestures to perform tasks.

The Windows Mobile device, Samsung Jack, from AT&T and Samsung was supposed to be available from May 19. It’s a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone available exclusively to AT&T customers in the U.S. and works on 3G network. Its price is $99.99.

T-Mobile USA celebrated the next generation of its Sidekick messaging device with the national launch of the new Sidekick LX. It features 3G for fast Web browsing and enhanced mobile access to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The company transformed the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood into a virtual T-Mobile metropolis for the launch event.

The Nokia N97 will begin selling in June in over 75 countries. Along with a tilting 3.5" touch display, QWERTY keyboard and a fully customizable home screen, the Nokia N97 will offer instant access to the full range of Ovi services.

It’s said to be the first device to ship with the Ovi Store, which offers access to applications, games, videos, podcasts, productivity tools, web and location-based services. Ovi Store has paid and free content from global and local content providers and developers, including Paramount Pictures, Facebook, and Qik, as well as a selection of Twitter applications.

Nokia says its Ovi Store is available globally to an estimated 50 million Nokia device owners. It covers over 50 Nokia devices including the N97.

The N97 device also has access to a catalogue of music in the Nokia Music Store. It’s coming with multiple high-speed connectivity options and 32GB of storage (up to 48GB using a microSD card). And you can listen to music on the Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-905, which Nokia also launched today (June 2).

High-quality images and video clips at 30 frames per second (fps) can be captured using its 5 megapixel camera with integrated Carl Zeiss optics. Images can also be geo-tagged to specific locations and shared instantly with others or uploaded online via Ovi Share, Twitter, or Flickr.
