5 Fresh Apps that Make
iPhone More Appealing
A
mobile device by itself is nothing but a piece of dull hardware. Only
applications make it useful for consumers. And if these applications are
smart enough, your mobile phone becomes a smartphone. And that’s what an
iPhone is. Today, there are thousands of apps available for iPhone, its
advanced version iPhone 3G, and the distant cousin iPod touch. However,
here are 5 apps among the latest ones that have added to the already
burgeoning appeal of iPhone family. The compilation is part of the
recently introduced My Techbox Online Market Intelligence Series.
1.
Business Application: Dow Jones & Company, which is part of News
Corporation, has introduced Dow Jones Sales Triggers for iPhone and iPod
touch. It’s available on the Apple App Store. The idea is to give mobile
executives access to up-to-the-minute business intelligence information
such as management moves, mergers, and new investments.
2.
Banking Application: AT&T and mobile commerce player Firethorn
Holdings, a Qualcomm company, are offering mobile banking application
for iPhone. The application is available as a free download from Apple's
App Store. Mobile Banking on AT&T will let users securely manage their
finances, including checking balances and transaction history,
transferring funds, receiving offers, viewing and paying bills, and
tracking rewards points.
3.
Songs of Love Application: The Songs of Love Foundation, a nonprofit
organization dedicated to creating personalized songs for chronically
and terminally ill children and young adults, has found a unique way to
use the device. The Songs of Love iPhone app is said to be the first
ever charity iPhone application. It contains a "Jukebox" of actual
"songs of love" that have been presented to children in the U.S. A
"Video" page contains footage of major media appearances including 60
Minutes, ABC World News and a PSA from "Little Miss Sunshine" actor Paul
Dano. A fun puzzle game featuring a "song of love" recipient is also
included.
4.
Mobile Blogging Application: A consumer software development firm
for Apple products, illumineX, has released iBlogger, which it says will
provide mobile blogging to iPhone for the first time. iBlogger works
with all the popular blogs, including WordPress, TypePad, and
MovableType, helping bloggers post quickly from iPhone and iPod touch,
anywhere, any time. iBlogger is based on ecto, a blogging application
for the Mac. It’s available on iTunes.
5.
Voice Enablement Application: And now you can control your iPhone by
giving it voice commands. Vlingo Corporation, which offers a
voice-enabled user interface Vlingo for wireless data services, has
launched its voice enablement application on Apple App Store. Vlingo for
iPhone will allow users to search the web, use Google Maps, dial phone
numbers, and update their Facebook and Twitter accounts by speaking into
the device.
The applications explained above
are indicative.
Buyers are advised to take details from vendors in their areas before
buying the product.
