Searching Videos on iPhone?
Truveo,
a video search engine, is ready to help. It has released a second
generation version of its video search application for the iPhone, with
new features and additional videos. Through the Truveo Mobile Video
Search for
iPhone app, it says, users can access over 145 million
videos.
In
addition, a special “What’s Hot” section features popular videos from
across the Web, the company says.
In
January of 2006, Truveo was acquired by AOL and currently operates as a
wholly owned subsidiary of AOL, LLC.
“Truveo
was the first company to release a video search application on the
iPhone and we’re delighted to be the first to release a second
generation video search app, one that incorporates much of the feedback
we’ve received from users,” said Pete Kocks, president of Truveo and VP
of AOL.
The
latest features added to Truveo’s iPhone application include:
- Intelligent Query
Completion, which assists users by suggesting key words or even
television shows. For example, if a user enters “stock” into their
Truveo application on their iPhone, the query completion engine will
not only suggest Truveo’s “stock footage” category, but will also
suggest shows related to investing.
- The ability to easily
discover related video content.
- Improved sharing.
- Advanced sorting.
- The ability to search for
videos by length.
Truveo
first launched its free video search app for the iPhone in July 2008,
and to date, it claims users of Truveo’s iPhone application have viewed
3 million videos.
The
company expects usage to continue growing as it adds features to its
iPhone application. In addition to the Truveo for iPhone app, a beta
version of Truveo for mobile devices that support RTSP (Real Time
Streaming Protocol) is also available.
The
updated Truveo video search app is available now for free to users
worldwide from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore/.
