Is Pricing Right for HTC Phone in India?

At a time when even the smartest phones are selling at quite competitive prices, mobile phone company HTC has today (June 10) launched HTC Touch Diamond2 at an exorbitant price of Rs. 29,990 (over $600) in India. Recently, many other mobile brands have also come.

According to the company, HTC Touch Diamond2 balances functions, form factor, and technology to personalize communication and mobile Internet experience. It also carries other conventional features available on most devices.

Moreover, HTC says it has introduced Push Internet technology with the new device for faster downloads. Users can preselect websites to get immediate access to them, it says.

Of late, a number of other devices have been introduced in the market to give more options to buyers. For example, Apple has introduced iPhone 3G S. The company says it’ll come with new features including improved speed and performance – up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G – with longer battery life, a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, easy to use video recording, and hands-free voice control. The device will be available on June 19 for $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model. (Read: Now Coming the New iPhone 3G S)

Among the other new introductions is Nokia N97. It’s Nokia's first device to feature a personalizable home screen, which can be customized with widgets to bring live information to the device. These widgets include social networking sites like Facebook and Hi5, news services like the Associated Press, Bloomberg, and Reuters, as well as shopping and weather information. Among the other recently introduced mobile devices are Nokia 2730 classic, Nokia 2720 fold, and Nokia 7020.

SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company, has added the new Motorola Stature i9 phone to its product portfolio. At 15 millimeters (0.60 inches) thick, it’s claimed to be the slimmest Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) flip phone.

Motorola has announced MOTO W7 Active Edition. It's a motion-enabled 3G mobile device. The phone is equipped with an accelerometer that senses your body's motions, orientation, and hand gestures to perform tasks.

The Windows Mobile device, Samsung Jack, from AT&T and Samsung was supposed to be available from May 19. It’s a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone available exclusively to AT&T customers in the U.S. and works on 3G network. Its price is $99.99.

T-Mobile USA celebrated the next generation of its Sidekick messaging device with the national launch of the new Sidekick LX. It features 3G for fast Web browsing and enhanced mobile access to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The company transformed the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood into a virtual T-Mobile metropolis for the launch event.
