Dating Goes Mobile with Palm Pre

Here’s the news for singles who are scouting for some on-the-go love. They can try new Match.com mobile dating application introduced for the new Palm Pre device. Match.com, a leading online dating service, says the application will offer members access to millions of singles.

"Every day, Match.com members send nearly 1 million emails and winks to each other," said Greg Blatt, CEO of Match.com. "With our new app for Palm Pre, we are giving our members one more way to connect on the go in the hopes of creating meaningful relationships."

Some of the features of the Match.com App for Palm Pre include the ability for users to:

  • Find other Match.com members in their area via a location search that leverages the Palm Pre's location-based capabilities

  • Search for, communicate with, and have access to Match.com members

  • Edit their profile and headline text

  • Receive notification via the Palm webOS platform when receiving an email or wink from a Match.com member

The new Match.com application is currently available in the U.S. and can be downloaded from the beta App Catalog on the new Palm Pre.

The Palm Pre phone, which is available since June 6, is coming with a price tag of $199.99. Running on the new Palm webOS mobile platform, Pre promises to bring together your information from where it resides – on your phone, at your work, or on the web – into one logical view. (Read: Sprint to Offer Palm Pre)

In a related development, Palm, Inc. has announced that its board of directors has appointed Jon Rubinstein to lead the company as chairman and CEO upon the departure of Ed Colligan, who is stepping down after sixteen years of leadership at the company. (Read: Jon Rubinstein Coming at Top of Palm)

In March, Match.com had announced the availability of a free application on the Apple App Store. It’ll bring the popular features of the Match.com online experience to the iPhone and iPod touch. (Read: Dating with iPhone)
