Switch on Verizon for
Chinese TV
Verizon
and Sino Television Inc., a privately held Chinese television company,
announced a multiyear agreement today (April 28) to bring three
Chinese-language channels to Verizon's FiOS TV service. This week,
Verizon will launch the first of these channels – Sino TV – a 24-hour
Chinese-language channel.
Sino
Television is a Chinese-language television company that is based,
owned, and operated in the U.S. With over 25 years of broadcasting for
the Chinese-American community, Verizon believes that the word "Sino"
has become synonymous with Chinese-language TV in the U.S.
Sino
Television offers a wide range of programming to meet the needs of
Chinese-Americans in the country, including news, dramas, movies,
variety shows and call-in programs.
FiOS TV
offers diverse programming, with more than 100 HD channels, 500
all-digital channels and 14,000 video-on-demand titles each month, 70%
of which are free. FiOS TV's Interactive Media Guide provides
personalized interactive services, including news and entertainment
widgets among other features. FiOS TV is currently available to more
than 9.7 million homes in 14 states, says Verizon.
Currently, the company is offering a package of FiOS Internet, FiOS TV,
and Verizon Freedom unlimited local and long-distance calling services
starting at under $100 a month.
New
customers who order a FiOS service bundle by June 20 can get an even
better deal with a current promotion that offers up to $150 back in the
form of a prepaid card, a two-year price guarantee, and premium
installation at no extra cost, according to the company.
