Download: Red Faction: Guerrilla Multiplayer Demo
Interactive entertainment software company THQ Inc. and Volition, Inc.
today (May 21) announced that the multiplayer demo for Red Faction:
Guerrilla is now available for free download on
Xbox LIVE Marketplace
for the Xbox 360 and
PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 gaming
system.
Developed by THQ internal studio Volition, Red Faction: Guerrilla is a
3rd person, open-world shooter featuring real physics-based destruction,
a story-driven single-player campaign, and multiplayer options.
The
multiplayer demo features ten-player Damage Control, an explosive new
mode that utilizes Volition’s GeoMod 2.0 Destruction Engine, to add a
new feature to traditional capture-and-hold, point-based gameplay. The
demo comes less than two weeks before the anticipated June 2nd launch of
Red Faction: Guerrilla on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Gamers
are split into two teams as they battle over three targets on the map.
To capture an enemy point, a team must destroy the target by any means
necessary and rebuild it with the Reconstructor device. The team that
controls the most targets will earn more points and win the game. The
multiplayer demo features nine futuristic weapons and five backpacks.
The
game is set on Mars, 50 years after the events of the original Red
Faction. Players will take on the role of freedom fighter Alec Mason
with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for
liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force.
Throughout their fight for freedom, players will carve their own path,
wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the
desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of
Eos.
Utilizing improvised
weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red
Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible
environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF
forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers
caught in the cross-fire. It will also feature a multiplayer component,
including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.
