AT&T India
has announced a contribution of US$25,000 (INR12,43,250) to Parikrma
Humanity Foundation to provide education to under-served children in
India. Parikrma has set up four Centres for Learning in Bangalore that
provide the program to 996 children from 28 slum communities and six
orphanages. (Dec. 22)
Nokia has
signed an agreement for Check Point Software Technologies to acquire
Nokia's security appliance business. The two businesses have collaborated
for over a decade to deliver enterprise security solutions. The agreement
is expected to close in the quarter ending in March 31, 2009. It is
subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Dell and EMC
have announced a multi-year extension of their global alliance through
2013. Dell will add new EMC storage system to its product portfolio. In
addition to extending the partnership, Dell and EMC will add the EMC
Celerra NX4 storage system to the portfolio of Dell-EMC networked storage

Mobile device
maker HTC Corporation has announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based
lifestyle design firm One & Company Design. The latter will maintain its
name and client base while it’ll work with HTC to create mobile designs.

Nokia has completed its offer
to acquire Symbian Limited. It has received valid acceptance of greater
than 99.9% of the total Symbian shares that Nokia did not already own.
Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, an open operating system for
mobile devices. All Symbian employees are planned to become Nokia
employees on February 1, 2009.

HP has announced financial
results for its fourth fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31, 2008, with net
revenue of $33.6 billion, up 19% from a year earlier and up 16% when
adjusted for the effects of currency. For the full fiscal year 2009, HP
expects revenue of approximately $127.5 billion to $130.0 billion.

The number of global broadband
subscribers has now reached 400 million, according to a report prepared
for the Broadband Forum by industry analysts, Point Topic. In 1998, there
were just 57,200 broadband subscribers globally.

Mobixell, a
mobile multimedia and advertising company is partnering with Brand Mobile,
a Russia-based digital marketing agency, to deliver mobile advertising to
the CIS market. The alliance aims to provide advertising, brand
management, campaign execution, ad serving, and rich media delivery.
Mobixell's Ad-It advertising solution enables the insertion of rich media
adverts over multiple channels including WAP, SMS, MMS, video, in-game,
and ad-funded content.

has launched SaxoMobileTrader for iPhone. The platform will allow users of

announced the release of Real Football 2009, the latest edition of the

devices from Nokia.

Technologies and Fortify Software Inc., have introduced a joint center to
assess and assure the security of client applications. The new Wipro
Software Assurance Center (SAC) will use Fortify 360 technology and will
operate from Wipro's India and regional facilities in the US and EMEA.
Will deliver software assurance capabilities to global clients using
managed (SaaS) or on-demand models.

announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.16 per common share, payable
on January 7, 2009 to stockholders of record at the close of business on
December 11, 2008. The company provides digital wireless communications
products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies.

publisher of video games for mobile phones and consoles, will support
Intel Atom processor-based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and netbooks.
It has begun porting selected games to these devices and will showcase
its flagship game "Brain Challenge" at Intel Developer Forum, Taipei.
