Orb for Intel MIDs
Orb
Networks, a software developer, says that it has added support for Intel
Atom processor Z5XX series-based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) to its
media access service. Orb helps users of Moblin-based mobile linux devices
find and enjoy content from their PC while on the go.
Orb
Networks, the place-shifting and media access provider, enables users to
enjoy content from their home PC -- music, photos, videos, and even live
TV (with a tuner card) -- while they are away.
With Orb,
the company says, there's no need to download favorites to a portable
device or upload them to a website before leaving home. Since Orb streams
content from the PC to a browser, there are no services to buy, files to
upload, or time spent waiting to synchronize data.
MIDs
based on the Intel Atom processor are expected to usher in a new class of
devices for mobile access to information and entertainment content. To
access their media while they are away, users can simply connect via WiFi
or a mobile phone network (3G, 2.5G, etc) to access content on the PC.
