Time to Meet
the Mummy
Sierra
Entertainment has announced that The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
video game is available in the North American market. The game is based on
Universal Pictures' epic adventure directed by Rob Cohen. It’s scheduled
to hit theatres August 1. Developed by Eurocom Studios for Wii and
PlayStation 2 computer entertainment systems, and by A2M for Nintendo DS,
the video game mirrors the fast-paced action and adventure found in the
latest chapter in the Mummy series.
The game, says Sierra, was created
through a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms
Group.
In The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, a third-person
action-adventure video game, players will take on the heroic roles of Rick
O'Connell and his son, Alex (played by Brendan Fraser and Luke Ford,
respectively, in the film). Gamers will follow the explorers on their
harrowing journey - across exotic locations from the catacombs of ancient
China to spectacular Himalayan peaks - to defeat the vicious Dragon
Emperor (Jet Li) and his reawakened terracotta servants.
It allows players to switch seamlessly between gunplay and hand-to-hand
melee attacks. It also features a fast and fluid combat system and an
extensive arsenal of weaponry that can be used to vanquish the many
bone-chilling enemies players will face during their journey. Fans of the
film will fight their way through the Mummy universe by utilizing combat,
puzzle-solving, and hieroglyphic decoding gameplay elements throughout.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is rated T for "Teen" and is
available on the Wii for the suggested retail price of $49.99, PlayStation
2 system for $39.99, and Nintendo DS for $29.99.
