Dow Jones to Host Social Media Webinar

Dow Jones & Company, a part of News Corporation, is hosting a one-hour, interactive Webinar, sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), titled "Leveraging Social Media for Effective Corporate Communications." Presenters include guest speaker David Meerman Scott, a marketing strategist, and Glenn Fannick, product development manager for the Dow Jones Enterprise Media Group.  It’s on Friday, October 17, 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT.

"The New Rules of PR" - David Meerman Scott will discuss how the Web has profoundly changed the rules, allowing communicators to now reach buyers through content-rich Web sites, blogs, YouTube videos, ebooks and other online media that buyers actually want to consume.

Explained with case studies and real-world examples, this is a practical discussion about the new reality of public relations and marketing. It will cover:

  • How to leverage the potential that Web-based communication offers.

  • How to create a step-by-step framework for building a social media strategy and action plan that your organization can follow to create thought leadership.

  • How to publish content that people want to read and that search engines reward with high rankings.

  • How tools like Web news releases, blogs, podcasts, Webcasts and social networking can be used to enhance your online presence.

  • How to reach your audiences directly, establishing a personal link with current and prospective customers and stakeholders.

"Top 5 Reasons You Can't Use Web Search to Measure your Media Exposure" - Glenn Fannick will discuss how public relations professionals can understand the results of campaigns to optimize strategies and tactics, and determine the success of their efforts. It will cover:

  • The difference between monitoring and measuring and why measuring matters

  • Why you can't use search engines to report on the success of your media campaigns

  • Best practices for media measurement, tools and technology
